About ReDub
What it is
ReDub is a party game played in the browser. A group picks a famous scene, each person records the lines in their own voice on their own device, the recordings play back over the scene, and the group votes for the funniest. It works on phones first and on desktop browsers as well, in English and Arabic.
Where the scenes come from
The scenes on the community shelf are dub packs made by the community around The Choicer Voicer, a desktop dubbing game by YeahMaybe, and published on GameBanana. ReDub is a separate game and is not affiliated with either. When a player opens a pack, ReDub’s server converts it once so it plays in any browser, and the pack’s maker is credited on its tile. Players can also upload a clip of their own. If you hold rights to a scene and want it removed, the copyright page explains how.
Who makes it
ReDub is made by one person, Saud, and started as a game for his own friends. It runs on a single server in Germany. The code, the words on the site and the design are his; the scenes belong to their makers.
What it costs
Nothing. There are no accounts, no purchases and no subscriptions. The site keeps daily totals of visits, rooms and dubs so its maker can see whether it is used, and nothing that identifies a person. Recordings are deleted when a room closes. The privacy page has the details.
Why it exists
Dubbing a scene you know with the voices of people you know is funny in a way that is hard to explain and easy to show. ReDub exists to make that take a minute to set up instead of an afternoon.
